The request
“We want to optimize the site to load faster. Pingdom and Google are flagging a bunch of things and we don't know which ones actually matter. Can you look at the whole site and tell us what's worth doing?”
Years of app installs, theme updates, and one-off customizations had layered up. The brand didn't know which of the dozen recommendations from speed tools were real problems and which were noise. They wanted someone to audit the whole store, prioritize, and fix.
The approach
We started with a full audit rather than chasing individual warnings. That surfaced the real culprits: several apps that had been uninstalled but left their scripts behind, oversized hero and collection images, and third-party scripts loading before the page could paint.
We fixed those in priority order, checking scores after each pass so the brand could see which changes actually moved the needle. Everything was done on a duplicate theme and published once the numbers held across desktop and mobile.
What we shipped
Full-store speed audit with a prioritized fix list
Removal of leftover scripts from uninstalled apps
Image optimization across homepage, collection, and product pages
Reordered script loading so visible content renders first
Before and after scores for desktop and mobile
