The request
“I'd like to speed up the site by fixing what PageSpeed Insights recommends. Please run the URL and let me know what's actually possible. I'm also considering a theme change, so I want to understand the tradeoffs.”
The brand was weighing a theme swap against fixing what they had. They needed an honest read on how much of the PageSpeed gap was the theme versus accumulated apps and images.
The approach
We ran the audit and separated the findings into theme-level issues and store-level issues. Most of the score loss was store-level: uncompressed images, render-blocking scripts from apps, and a few unused tracking tags.
We fixed the store-level issues first, which got the score into a healthy range without a theme change. The brand kept their theme and saved the migration cost.
What we shipped
PageSpeed audit split into theme and store-level findings
Image compression across all page templates
Script loading reordered to unblock rendering
Unused tracking tags removed
